Nighttime

Let hours of darkness arrive
Daylight will bid farewell
Let us answer to ourselves
This desire that can’t be quelled

No light is required
Except that from the stars
Let us feel our way
In this moment of ours

The Promise

wedding-001

They are only words spoken from the mouth
Consonants, vowels, and various sounds

Their significance can be minute or grand
Depending on outlook and where one stands

Along the journey there may be potholes
So endurance must settle deeply in the souls
For as time passes and age becomes clearer
The bond that has formed becomes even dearer

I take you to be my lawfully wedded husband,
To have and to hold, from this day forward,
For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer,
In sickness and in health, until death do us part

I would say these words again without hesitation
Because he is my breath in all creation

(Today is our 28th wedding anniversary) ♥ ♥ ♥

Quantify

How long has it been
Since my life was rearranged
And the pattern of my breathing
Was drastically changed?

How many minutes have ticked away
Since your sky merged into mine
And all that surrounds me has vanished
With no measure of time?

In the vast darkness way up high
We find shelter under the moon
In our hearts, minds, and souls
We find ourselves marooned

Perfect Imperfections

I am flawed
You are flawed
We are perfect
for each other

(Really, enough said, right? If anyone is searching for that perfect partner,
they’re wasting their time. When you love someone, you love them for
their wonderful qualities and for all of their imperfections, too – the
components to their personality or appearance that they most likely
try to hide. That is where true love to the depths of our hearts comes alive. ♥)

You Calm Me

When a tornado storms
through my work day and
my desk is the aftermath
When my brain is frazzled and
I’m ready for a bubble bath
I may hesitate when the phone rings
because there’s so much to do
but when I hear your voice
I know I’ll pull through

Tomorrow

My desire
isn’t to see
you again,
nor to touch
your face
as my lips
meet yours

(a longing
from
yesterday)

instead,
I must do

what is right
for you and me…
let go of
futile dreams
