29 Years and Counting!

In honor of our 29th wedding anniversary, here is a poem I wrote years ago for my husband. Some of you may remember it…

box-with-red-bow

The Box

You placed it in my hands, adorned with a red bow
only a short clip of time had passed by our window

After pulling out tissue paper of white
I was entranced by the amazing sight

For inside was a lifetime together and
a house to be filled by the love we would gather

The walls stood bare waiting for memories to dress
showing reasons for us feeling truly blessed

The best gift of all, though, I am thrilled to say
was your heart at the bottom, committed to stay

(Over the years, some things have changed besides us getting older :). God Bless my husband’s mom and both of my parents as they rest in Heaven. And we hope for  another 29 years, so we can continue growing old together.) 💕

The Promise

wedding-001

They are only words spoken from the mouth
Consonants, vowels, and various sounds

Their significance can be minute or grand
Depending on outlook and where one stands

Along the journey there may be potholes
So endurance must settle deeply in the souls
For as time passes and age becomes clearer
The bond that has formed becomes even dearer

I take you to be my lawfully wedded husband,
To have and to hold, from this day forward,
For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer,
In sickness and in health, until death do us part

I would say these words again without hesitation
Because he is my breath in all creation

CELEBRATING!

fall

Hello Friends,

WordPress tells me that it’s my 6th anniversary, but I seem to be one year off. Anyway, I’ll take it if it’s cause for celebration. 🙂 This blogging journey has been wonderful in so many ways, mostly because I’ve met all of you! I know I’ve taken some breaks, and I also haven’t blogged in the last few weeks because this class I’m taking demands a LOT of homework. I’m trying to find some type of balance, but I guess I’m just moving around here slowly. I’m done with this week’s h/w though, which is due tomorrow by noon, so I’m going to dive into my inundated email this morning and read some blogs I’ve unintentionally ignored. ♥

I’ll end with, not only a fun haiku for the new autumn season (ironically, we’re having 100 degree weather), but with also another BIG “Thank You” for all your likes and comments, but most importantly, your friendship, love, and support. ♥

HAVE A WONDERFUL AND PEACEFUL SUNDAY! SENDING LOTS OF LOVE, LAUREN ♥

Happy National Coffee Day :)

Today just happens to be
a day honoring coffee
so pull up a chair
I promise to share
the aroma is enticing
with no overpricing
there are coffee fixings, too,
of course, don’t overdo
it’s free; won’t cost a dime
so if you have the time
and you’re feeling so inclined
enjoy some java and some peace of mind 🙂

You registered on WordPress.com 5 years ago!
Thanks for flying with us. Keep up the good blogging!

Another year zoomed by since I last celebrated with WordPress and

I’ll repeat my story from last year…I opened this blog in 2010,
became active in 2011,
so I’m always one year behind. 🙂

Writing for our blogs is a great hobby; it gives us the opportunity to meet new people along the way. What could be better?

friendshipSo thank you, EVERYONE, for your continued support! I began this journey before I turned the big 50 and now it’s been five years? Sigh…oh well, let the fun continue…

Soft serve on a cone
Hot dogs at the fair
Popcorn at the movies
Adventures if we dare
Bikes on the streets
Longer days to play
Sunscreen on our noses
for a hike on any day
Surfers on a wave
Towels on the sand
Parties in the pools
Dancing to the band
Moonlit strolls for lovers
Cool drinks with lime
Oh, how we love you
Sweet, sweet Summertime

Happy Birthday, USA

Our flag proudly flies
holding men and women in

its bold stars and stripes
Colors in the sky
together we “ooh” and “ahhh”
Independence Day

Wishing you all who celebrate a fun and safe Fourth of July!
Each year we go to our county fair, which is our plan for today.
And each year it’s the same, nothing changes,
yet the experience is still fun as we view the exhibits, the animals,
ride the big Ferris Wheel, take in the great music, enjoy some wine and beer
and of course, enjoy the fair food…my faves are gyros and root beer floats. 🙂

So have a Happy time and a Wonderful Weekend!
Sharing Love and Hugs, Lauren

Happy 4th of July weekend 2015 picassa

Just Go For It!

Accomplish picassa with Sabrina's photo 2015

In honor of our daughter’s university graduation, I found this quote, which I thought was perfect for today’s festivities and celebrations. The gorgeous photo is from my good friend, Sabrina.

Our daughter has persevered not only academically but also personally and today she’ll walk across the finish line with a Bachelor’s Degree in hand. To say we’re proud doesn’t even cover all the emotions. 🙂

So go out and Live, Dream, Act and Believe!

Sending much love, Lauren ♥

Early New Year Wishes :)

happy_new_year

There were…
high points to this year
low points to bear
tears to dry
from reasons to cry
lessons to learn by
adventures to try
demons to fight
wrongs to right
resolutions completed
some deleted
but looking back
we see the impact
another year of living
the gift of existing
So accelerate in high gear
no invite for fear
Pour the bubbles
forget your troubles
Clink and Chime
Celebrate Big Time!

One year later, I share this poem again
with sincere wishes of a wonderful, joyful,
productive 2015 for you all
and a safe celebration for ringing in the New Year!

With love, Lauren
