About Me

copper-smelling-flowers

Copper shows that we should slow down and take time to enjoy nature’s beauty around us.

I can’t say I’m anyone special, except to those in my circle. I’m not a famous actress, singer, comedienne, chef, or entrepreneur. You won’t see my face on the big screen or TV. My name is Lauren, and I’m an ordinary woman on this mysterious planet. I’ve recently turned fifty-nine, am happily married for thirty-one years, and have two amazing adult children, a daughter and son. Out of our litany of pets, we still play home to our nearly ten-year-old chocolate lab mix, Copper. After typing the last few sentences, my life actually appears to be far from ordinary. It feels extraordinary, even with the many hurdles I’ve jumped over to get to this stage in life – a life that is not devoid of struggles.

I devote most of my free time to writing and any aspect in life can provide inspiration, not singling out any one emotion. I hope something that I’ve shared resonates with you, maybe even helps in a small way, brings joy, or serves as reassurance that whatever you’re going through, you are not alone.

I have also published two collections of poetry, New Day, New Dreams and Finding a Balance. More information can be found on the Published Works tab, if you’re interested in purchasing copies.

Your visit is appreciated and I hope to see you again,

Sending love and virtual hugs,

Lauren Scott

  1. I am so glad that you realized that I wrote that just for you…”Lauren’s Poem”. I just discovered that you put it up and am so pleased that you liked it. There is so much love and heart in you. It draws out the same in others. You are a beautiful Soul and presence here.

    • Thank you, Linda, for your very kind words. I’m in awe and truly feel the same about you. I couldn’t “not” paste your poem on my wall. It was just so beautiful to not share…I hope you’re doing well and will visit you soon. xoxo

  2. Hi sweet Lauren! I have nominated you for another Candle Lighter Award. I know you have many, but here is one more from me because you are truly deserving. Your work is an inspiration for so many….thank you.
If you choose to accept, visit this link for details…

I know you have much going on right now, and I am still keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers….so no rush for this, just whenever you are able to get to it.
Lots and lots of love, blessings and peace,
    Celeste

    • Hi Celeste, Thank you for your patience and kindness…I truly appreciate this award and have others that I am far behind on accepting, so I will hopefully follow through by the end of this week. I need to respond to all of the wonderful comments I’ve received during this tough time in our family’s lives…thank you again, for your love and support..it really means more than I can put down in words~xx

  3. @John-Cromwellshead: John, I’m so sorry you’ve been through this, too. Again, I can’t thank you enough for your prayers and you are in mine, as well. It’s a part of life, but not an easy part…Blessings, Lauren

  4. Thank you dear Lauren, I take comfort knowing mum and dad are in a better place. It does not take away the pain, it does not bring them back. I thank them for giving me life, for I will spend a big part of mine remembering them.

    Peace, John

    • You’re welcome, John, and I feel like you do, but now we worry about Dad. He’s doing well at 92, better than we can imagine, but he lost his gal, after 70 years of being together, so it’s heartbreaking. I do believe that God will give us strength to carry forward and time will heal. But, it’ll take some time and won’t happen overnight. Mom is in a better place and we’re so thankful she didn’t suffer long and passed peacefully. There are so many blessings and wonderful memories that we’re trying to hold onto…have a good Wednesday and thanks for sharing. It’s great support…Lauren xx

  6. How lovely! Well done for finding and exploring this creative outlet of writing. I have reached the conclusion that I need to do this myself. Look forward to reading more of your poems.

    • Thank you, Marina, it has been a fun learning experience, all in one…I encourage you to, as well, and thank you again, for visiting me and for “liking” some of my poems. I hope you continue to enjoy! 🙂

    • Thanks so much, Sharon! I just commented on your blog and I appreciate you nominating me, too! I think I goofed with that 2nd post, because I don’t think we’re supposed to accept it more than once. I believe I’m going to have to pass on following through, Sharon, only because of time constraints and the fact that I have already received it. I’m going to acknowledge you, though, so please know that I truly appreciate you thinking of me. I hope this is okay~xo

  8. Happy Birthday, Lauren! I tried to leave a comment on your actual post, but it won’t let me … hoping that your day is as special as you are! ~ Love, Julie xox

    • Thanks so much, Julie, my day was actually yesterday, so I just edited my post….But thank you for your wishes and xo’s and for your lovely words. I hope you’re doing well, too…xo Hugs back to you!

    • Hi Cynthia,

Thanks so much and I will follow through between now and the weekend. I’m sinking! 🙂 It’s all good, though, and I love your poetry and haiku, so I will continue to comment! 🙂 xo

    • Congrats, Kara, I’m happy that you’re seeing your dreams come true, too. I’ve never been published and to a small degree, that is still a dream, but i’m not sure just how important it is anymore. I’ve received more gracious feedback on this blog than I ever dreamed of and I’m continuing to write….anyway, I wish you all the best and I hope you’ll visit again! 🙂
      Lauren

    • Thank you so much, Archana, I am truly honored and so glad you find my blog and writing to be inspiring. Truthfully, I am so far behind on some past awards, that I’m not sure if I’ll be able to follow through with this, due to time constraints…but even if I don’t, I do appreciate you thinking of me and I hope you’ll understand~I’ll be over your way soon, too! xo

    • You’re welcome, Bob, and I have written many others that are not haiku, so if you have the time to peruse, please do so…I know what “not having enough time” is all about, but I wanted to let you know there’s more than haiku around here! Take care and nice to meet you! 🙂

  9. Lauren I absolutely love your blog. You have such a beautiful writing style that just flows off the page. Keep up the great work! I will definitely be back to read more. 🙂

    • Hi Rynna, Thank you so much for thinking about me, but at this time, I think I’ll have to pass on accepting due to time limits…I would love for you to pass this on to another wonderful blogger who has not, yet, received this award. I still need to follow through with a couple that are new to me. I really hope you understand and I do appreciate your support and nomination.

  10. Thank you for having a look at my artwork as featured on Carl’s page… I really appreciate it and reminds me we don’t just send these images or words into nothingness…

  11. On October 19th I was invited by Esenga’s Voice to join the Līgo Circle of Appreciation among fellow bloggers. I am inviting you.

For duration of 22 days, starting on October 1, 2012, two bloggers per day will be invited to join the Līgo Circle of Appreciation. PLEASE NOTE: This is an Appreciation, NOT an Award.

The yearly Līgo celebration happens every summer solstice in Latvia. At this time people adorn their heads with Līgos of flowers, oak leaves, grasses and plants. They join circles around bonfires and celebrate life, and their appreciation of each other.

To fully participate in the Līgo Circle of Appreciation:
    * Complete this sentence about blogging: ”A great blog is…”
    * Refer back to the blogger who invited you.
    * Invite 2 bloggers to join the Līgo Circle of Appreciation on a post.

    Steve, Simplicity Lane http://simplicitylane.wordpress.com/2012/10/20/ligo-circle-of-appreciation/

  12. I fully realize that because of your family concerns you will not be able to respond to my Līgo Circle of Appreciation message. Your blog is still very much appreciated. You and your family are in my prayers. Steve

    • I just saw this, Steve, and thank you for acknowledging my blog and for the nice things you have said…in other circumstances, I would love to accept this and pass it on. Take care and your prayers are very much appreciated, too. Blessings, Lauren

    • Hi Tarisai!

Thanks so much for thinking of me for this award! I don’t know if you’re aware or not, but I haven’t been blogging since October, due to some bad news my family received. I guess you could say that I’m kind of paralyzed in the creativity department or that it has been deleted! Anyway, I did post an old poem for Christmas because I wanted to extend my holiday wishes to everyone, but I haven’t returned for good, yet, and I’m still unsure of what the future brings. So, I hope you don’t mind if I don’t pass this on, but please know that I do appreciate your kindness and I also wish you many blessings in this new year! Thanks again! Lauren

      • Oh Lauren, sorry to hear that. Well this year is something great to look forward to and I’ll be praying for you and your family. In the midst of your situation if you can practice Psalm 34:1 then restoration, peace, blessings, promises and inspiration will be your portion.

        I’m practicing it now!

        Please come back soon.

      • Thanks for your understanding, Tarisai, and for the Psalm. I will read it and follow it…and thanks for your prayers, too. We can never have too many! Take care, too!

  13. From a poet’s perspective, you did such a marvelous and inspiring job in writing this lovely piece. Rules are good; but writing from your ‘deepest’ is better. This was a pleasure to read because I can see your heart in each stanza; each line; and each word and breath. BTW, I just found your blog, and I look forward to reading your poems–old and new! Keep the fire ablaze; and your heart the match as you write.

      • Come over to my blog anytime. You might find it strange, but even though I’m a poet, I only put stories up on the blog sight. Please enjoy those. Looking forward to reading more of your stuff 🙂

  14. Just stopping by to tell you that all of your poems always touch me deep in my soul, Lauren. Keep writing from your heart and not rules…It works beautifully.
    Love and hugs xxx
