UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL
ALL GROWN UP, STANDING TALL AND PROUD
NEW BRILLIANT BUD
THIS ONE WAS TRAMPLED BY COPPER AS HE
DASHED QUICKLY TO CATCH A SQUIRREL,
WHICH GOT AWAY (HE WAS SO SORRY
ABOUT THE SQUIRREL AND SUNFLOWER). 🙂
THE STEM LIES HORIZONTALLY, THEN STANDS UPWARD
AS YOU SEE IN THIS PHOTO. IT’S PRETTY AMAZING
THAT THIS LITTLE ONE PERSEVERED AND FOUGHT
TO LIVE. IT MAY NOT BE THE TALLEST, BUT IT’S THE
BRAVEST AND STRONGEST. WE CALL IT, ‘THE FIGHTER.’
MY HUSBAND CAPTURED THIS BUZZING BEAUTY!
(Please excuse any weeds you may see; we’re a little behind in that
glorious task. And I hope you’re not tired of these beauties just yet. This
year has been our first for sunflower experimentation. So, to see
them grow and bloom has been a real treat for all of us.)
Sunflower Satisfaction
Feeling a sense of wonder
watching them sprout
with newfound delight –
entering into the land
of blossoms and buzzing,
a gift unto all who enjoy
beneath the golden light

Delightful! 🙂
Thanks, Bette! Glad you enjoyed! 🙂
Lauren, I loved seeing these gorgeous photos! The colors are just beautiful. You’ve inspired me – next spring we’re planting sunflowers. (Great picture of the bee also!) Thank you for sharing these delightful flowers.
💛🌻💛🌻💛🌻💛
I’m glad you enjoyed this splash of sunflowers, Betty. Like I said, this is our first year, and it’s been so rewarding. So, I hope you do plant some next spring because I’m already looking forward to your photos. 🙂 I loved that bee photo, too, and glad my husband was able to click away. Have a good day, my friend. 💕🌻🌼
Hope you’re having a good day too, Lauren! ❤️❤️❤️
❤️❤️❤️
Hello Lauren,
That first shot – close and personal – what a glorious flower. And I am impressed with your “fighter” – you have given them personalities – and am impressed with you too :-). I love and am respectful to plant life but never thought of them as having personalities – but shall do so from now on.
Have a great week ahead,
Eric
Hi Eric,
Thanks so much for your wonderful words and complements. I confess to being a changed person. In years past, I had no interest in the garden. This year we threw a couple of parties, which sparked the desire to “pretty up” the yard even more. So, that’s where it began, but I look at the flowers now as living creatures. No, they’re not animals, but if they’re wilting in the burning sun, I give them a drink right away. My heart’s in it more, I suppose. 🙂 The Fighter is something else. We were honestly surprised it came back to life after assuming we had lost it. It was also fun giving them personalities and I’m so glad you liked that aspect, too. Have a great week, too!
What a lovely way to end my day. Beautiful, Lauren.❤️
Thanks, Jill! I’m happy to end your day on a lovely note. 🙂 Hope today is the same! By the way, I’m reading your book and loving it! ❤
Lovely, this is the first time I’ve seen a sunflower that color. The ones I’ve grown are all yellow. I like this one. 🙂
It’s the first for me, too, Ian. I love the rich shade of red, though. Some have a hint of yellow and red. They’re definitely unusual but a beautiful addition to the yard. 🙂
Excellent post, Lauren,
i love every one of these beauties..and hats off to The Fighter!
With love
john
Thank so much, John! I’m happy you enjoyed, and yes, hats off to The Fighter. That little one surprised us all. Love and hugs to you, too!
Lauren, I so understand your happiness as these magnificent flowers grow.
I remember the first time and how I updated friends regularly.
My seeds were a gift so it was even more special.
You go, keep taking photos.
Miriam
I’m glad you’re not getting tired of seeing these beauties, Miriam, and that you understand the joy in watching them grow, too. For the first year, I think they’ve done pretty well, but we did learn some things for next year’s bunch. 🙂 💕🌻
Weeds? I was so enthralled with your beautiful sunflowers I didn’t see any weeds. They are gorgeous! Have a wonderful week, my dear friend. 💕🤗💕
I’m glad you didn’t notice them, Michelle, probably because they are subtle. But I still felt a little note was warranted. I know they’re there and need to get out and start pulling, but it’s not on the fun list. 🙂 Thanks and happy you loved the blooms. Have a great week, too! Big hugs! 💕🌼🌻
Sunflowers are such big happy flowers. They’re always nice to see. And their seeds are pretty tasty, too.
I agree with all you said, Binky, especially the happiness they portray. There are a few types of flowers that are happy and daisies also come to mind. 🙂
WEED
What transforms a plant
Into nothing but a weed?
One’s attitude
Attitude is everything, that’s for sure. Good one, Ben, and as you can see, The Fighter had a stellar attitude! 🙂
Wow!I just love the expansion of your “Solar System”,dear Lauren!I share your feelings,I gladly receive the warmth of their rays 🙂 xxx
I’m so glad you loved this “Solar System” Doda, and I’m glad you’re not tired of seeing this vibrant beauties just yet. Enjoy their warmth, dear friend! Hugs 💗🌼🌻

They’re gorgeous! 😄💙
Thanks, Iris!! Have a good weekend! ❤️🌻
Thank you 😘 you too! 😄
They are truly a gift, as is your beautiful poem, Lauren! Love ‘ The Fighter’ – so amazing!! Poor Copper but lucky squirrel.😉
💗💗💗
Thanks so much, Sarah! Your words warm my heart, and The Fighter really amazed us! 🙂 Yes, poor Copper but lucky squirrel indeed. 💖🌷
Well worth the wait Lauren. I only have one in my garden but it has just flowered . Next year the plan is to plant a whole row. Such lovely flowers. Love the photos.
Thanks, Alison! This year was experimental as we planted in various spots. But I agree with you in planting in a row. We already have the place in our minds. I’m glad you enjoyed! 🙂
Always enjoy reading you thoughts.
Thanks, Alison! And the same goes for reading your posts, too! 🙂
Delightful close ups Lauren, it is amazing the height they grow and all to sustain one beautiful flower, they are definitely a strong flowers as The Fighter has proven.
Kind regards from Australia.
I’m glad you enjoyed these, also, Ian. And yes, The Fighter is a pillar of strength, for sure. We finally have some yellow blooms, too. After experimenting this summer and doing pretty well, we’d like to plant seeds again next spring in one row in the front of the house for all to see. We would just have to put up a wire fence to keep the lovely deer out. 🙂 That’s a long time away, though, so until then, have a fabulous weekend!
Just gorgeous Lauren – the life of a sunflower 🙂
Thanks, Debby! It’s been a pretty good first try this spring. 🙂
Simple and amazing words
Thank you!
Fabulous photos of glorious sunflowers, they always make me smile . I like the story of the determined little chap who grows despite of a marauding Copper . 💜
Thanks, Willow! For our first try with these happy flowers, the outcome was more than we expected. And there are still new blooms blooming. 🙂 Yes, The Fighter is amazing. We couldn’t believe when we saw how it was growing in spite of Copper’s trampling. Squirrels are that important to him. 😊💗
Lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣
What a pleasure it is to see this. Thank you for showing us your little slice of heaven.
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed these happy flowers. It’s our first year of planting these, so we were thrilled with the outcome.
