Folly

Just yesterday
I went for a walk
by myself
but I wasn’t lonely
until I slipped and fell
into a puddle of
infatuation

There was no one to catch me

Once I gained my composure
I was only sure of confusion
and I wondered how
my clothes would dry

Puddles were in abundance

He is only being himself,
I silently conjectured

The air was cold
The wind insistent
I felt myself trembling
with only the truth
to blame

    • I’m glad to hear that, Chris, and thank you for your kind complement. It’s challenging to try different avenues but it’s also fun and I’m thankful for the positive feedback, too. I always appreciate your insightful comments. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hugs and blessings! โ™ฅ

    • I thought the same thing, Steve, only in a negative way; wasn’t sure about using it. Then I thought, what the heck! I’ll try and hope for the best. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m glad you liked it and thanks for your comment!

    • Aww, thanks, Michelle! Sometimes metaphors aren’t good so I wasn’t sure about the puddles. But the feedback has been better than I expected. So it’s always good to try and hope for a smooth outcome..:)

  1. Strong poetic words with a touch of melancholy wandering in the cold wind … I’ll go back to the bucolic scene and regain soundness … Loved your poignant expression dear Lauren ๐Ÿ™‚ โค xxx

    • Thanks so much, Rodrick. I thought I’d try puddles for this metaphor, though I wasn’t sure how it would turn out. I’m so happy you enjoyed this and I appreciate your complement very much!

    • Thanks, Diane! As I’ve mentioned in other comments, puddles came to mind but I wasn’t sure if they would work. How will we know if we don’t try, right? And those last two lines came at the last minute. I wasn’t satisfied for awhile…โ™ฅ xoxo
