MORNING

A little past dawn
Light invites itself
streaming through
the window
Feeling the stare
my eyes open
only to realize
night has bid farewell
Dreading
getting out of bed
and the biting cold
when toes touch the floor
I pull the covers over my head
Bodies warm and cozy
A duet, all snuggly
lying next to my hubby
Daybreak can wait
Iā€™m not willing
to greet
the chilling
hour
just yet

  1. I love this poem! Great use of the senses, and love your phrasing of “Light invites itself” – wonderful word choice here. Your imagery is wonderful, and allows the reader to feel the moment; very well done! ~ Julie šŸ™‚

  2. I love this one, Lauren! It hits right at home with me…Like every winter morning. Thank you for writing and sharing this!

    Hope you feeling better now.

    Hugs, Deb xx

  3. Very polished, completed morning poem here, Lauren. When you said “I felt the stare” I thought of my four legged family members staring at me demanding silently to go outside, no matter the cold! The ending makes me want to snuggle again, even though I am in an office!

    • Thanks, Rose, and I miss my four-legged family member! But, I think in the next couple of months, we’ll be looking for a new companion; not to replace Lucky Girl, but to add to our canine memories~I wish I could stay in bed, but off to work we all go! Hugs!

    • Thanks so much! May I call you Willo? I appreciate your continued support and will visit you soon. I feel like I’m always playing catch up for some reason! Have a wonderful day! šŸ™‚

Your thoughts are welcome!
