ELATION

Singing with the birds
outside the window
Belting out the words
in the acoustical shower
in or out of tune

Dancing barefoot
on the blanket of grass
Flying beside the butterflies
Humming with the buzz
of the bumble bees

Floating with the stars
Riding the Milky Way to Mars
Swinging on the moon
from one crescent
to the next

What a world of bliss
if we could all experience
this magical happiness

  2. Kellie, thanks so much and I’m honored that you enjoyed this enough to have it featured on your blog, which looks absolutely magical! I have to be honest in saying I’m not quite sure just how to link it. I haven’t done that, yet. I can copy and paste the link, if that’s what you mean, but I’m still new and learning the ropes of WP. If you could guide me, I’d be happy to! Thanks again! 🙂

    • Well, I was in a magical frame of mind when I wrote this, but I do have my moments, as I’m sure you’ve read about! Your comment made me laugh, though! Thanks, as always, for your feedback, BG! 🙂

  3. Lauren, your poetry was so effective in this post that I am still sliding down the other side of a shooting start’s tail! (In my soul, of course). Thank you for this joyous, playful, extravagant celebration of the act of immersing oneself in all the splendors of the universe!

  4. I love and absolutely adore the second to last verse! it makes me want to actually do that (even though it’s humanly impossible) haha very well-written, Mom with the magic that you portray in this lovely poem!

  5. Okay, I have to tell you about a piece of “wall art” I bought myself a couple Christmases ago. I can’t always afford gifts for me, but this was a “must have” and a bargain, so there: it’s kind of a wire, metal, glass deal; maybe 6 inches by a foot and a half or two. On the left side is a star–cut out, so you see the wall behind it in the star-shape; then on the right, are 3 smaller star cutouts, with somewhat larger stars beneath the word “Dream”. In the center is the message which led me to buy it: “Reach for the moon–if you miss it, you will land among the stars”. Ain’t it great?! Your poem made me look at it for the mllionth time, and sigh.

    • I love that quote, Caddo, and your piece of art sounds beautiful. I can see the connection with the poem and I’m glad to nudge you into that dreamy state, again! We have to keep our dreams alive, even through many types of art~thanks for visiting and for sharing!

Your thoughts are always welcome!
